This qualifying paper takes the form of an exhibition proposal.
It focuses on the donation of part of Aimée de Heeren's wardrobe to The Museum at FIT (NYC).
Aimée de Heeren was an international socialite and fashion leader. She was born in Brazil but in moved to New York in the late 1930s. She was named to the Best Dressed List and later admitted to the List's Hall of Fame.
Three hundred of her garments were donated to the Museum in the 1970s by her husband Rodman Arturo de Heeren (heir to the Wanamaker department store fortune). Aimée was mentioned in memoirs by Bettina Ballard and Cecil Beaton.
She owned couture garments by leading designers such as Augustabernard, Balenciaga, Dior, Fath, Molyneux, Piguet, Rochas, Schiaparelli, Vionnet, among several others.
